Food for the Soul

My goal here at Torta is simply to brighten your day, through food. I wholeheartedly believe that food is the sixth Love Language so I put my heart, soul, and heaps of love into each of my baked goods to create the kinds of desserts that you feel are "Good for the Soul."

The Torta menu is inspired by classic comfort foods like our Grandmas make, but with my own modern spin. I strive for the same homey tastes and experiences in my desserts, while being able to offer unique flavors and styles.

Each of my desserts are made from scratch, just for you! I would love to work with you to create the perfect custom sweet to brighten your everyday or your most special celebrations!

ABOUT THE BAKER

Hi! My name is Ashley Schwartz and I am the owner and baker here at Torta! I was born and raised in Rochester, New York. I enjoyed baking when I was little, especially the times when my family would bake Christmas cookies together, but it wasn't until high school when I took a cake decorating class at Micheal's with my mom and sister that I discovered baking as an art form and truly fell in love. During my senior year, I decided to pursue baking as a career.

In August 2014, I started at Alfred State College in the Culinary Arts: Baking Production and management program. During my time in the program, I learned the skills and techniques I needed to create myriad of high quality baked goods as well as work in a professional kitchen setting. After culinary school, I honed my skills while training at several bakeries in the Rochester area.

While I loved working for local businesses, I wanted to be able to connect my baking back to my roots and began to experiment with my own recipes from my childhood. In 2018, I started selling my baked goods to friends and family. With the increasing interest in my desserts, I decided to make my little business official and established Torta in October of 2019.

I love creating desserts for any and all occasions, but I also love to be able to brighten your everyday. I invite you to place an order with me whenever you have a craving. You don't need a special occasion to eat dessert!
